How we keep your children safe
Bringing an outside instructor into your classroom is a decision we take as seriously as you do. Here is exactly what we do.
Instructor screening
Every instructor is screened against the Child Registry maintained by the Department of Social Welfare (Jabatan Kebajikan Masyarakat) before their first class. We keep the screening letter on file and will show it on request. Instructors are re-screened annually.
Open-door classes
Pikiko classes are never closed to your staff. Any teacher, coordinator or principal is welcome to walk in and sit through any session, unannounced, at any time. Our instructor works in your classroom, inside your school, in full view.
Insurance
We carry public liability insurance covering our activities in your school. A copy of the certificate is provided with every programme agreement.
Child protection policy
Every instructor signs and follows our child protection policy before their first class. It covers behaviour standards, physical contact, no unsupervised one-to-one contact, and a clear route for reporting concerns.
Instructor training
Instructors complete our curriculum and classroom training before they teach, covering lesson delivery, age-appropriate instruction, materials handling and classroom safety.
Materials
Our clay is non-toxic and contains no animal-derived ingredients. Full material information is available on request. Sugar Programme will not open until its ingredient and allergen information is confirmed and published.
We hold no records about your children
Unusually for a children’s programme, we collect nothing at all about the children we teach.
- No names, no dates of birth, no class lists, no attendance records
- No photographs or video of children
- Instructors may not photograph children on personal devices, at any time
- Every record about a child stays with your school, under your own policies
There is no consent form for you to chase, no register for us to hold and nothing of yours sitting in our systems. If a school ever wanted us to photograph a session, we would agree it with you in writing first.
